Black Screen and voiceover speaks in a saddened austere voice. Thomas Newman "Hauntingly Beautiful" is playing on top of it as the voiceover speaks.
VOICEOVER: In the beginning the world thrived in all its beauty. There was a place for all and no boundaries could hold it back. It stood strong, in all its majesty, until the years passed and the infestation came. Shoals of lavae, molluscs and fungi spread through like a virus until at its darkest point they overcame it all. No longer could people survive; no longer could they call it their home.
(The black screen is replaced by Jess looking out over Durham bridge standing outside Starbucks. The sky is burning red and the buildings are collapsing around her. Time is slow-motion and the dust and fragmented particles of the buildings float around her.)
VOICEOVER: Only a handful survived. Those who had flocked to the East when the storm came were able to fight off the attack as it swept across. Out of the ruins of the cities, they grouped in desperate shelters as deep underground as they could find. At early evening, when the virus was at its lowest point, they would roam the streets searching for fallen loved ones.

(Jess looks up at the sky where the clouds form into a burning figure that looks down over her. She looks back across the bridge where Will is about 10 metres away from her through the mass of dust and broken particles lying on the ground covered in blood.)
WILL: Jess! Jess! Are you there?

JESS: Will!
(Jess runs over to Will who is covered in blood on the ground.)
WILL: Jess! Is that you?

JESS: I'm here, Will. It's ok, everything's gonna be fine. Just you hang on.

WILL: I'm dying, Jess. They shot me in the chest. I'm not gonna make it.
JESS (speaks frantically as she tries to save him): Yes you are, Will. Listen to me, you're gonna be alright. I believe in you.
WILL (smiles painfully then speaks): Oh Jess, you look so beautiful.
(Jess kisses Will's forehead)

WILL: I'm so proud of you, Jess.

JESS: I missed you.
WILL (gasping for breath): Will you do something for me, Jess. I need you to do som- (he breaks up)

JESS: Stay with me, Will!

(Will says his last words and collapses in Jess' arms. She breaks down in tears as she holds him. She hears a rumbling noise and looks to her right. Tanks and infantry are approaching towards her. Airplanes fly above launching missiles into the falling buildings either side of her. She puts her hands underneath the body of Will and slowly lifts him up. As the buildings collapse either side of her, she carries his body desperately behind allied lines. Reaching safety, she places the body down on the ground.

JESS: Run free, Will. This world cannot hurt you now.
(Jess gently closes the eyes of Will and lays him to rest. She turns and looks at the soldiers standing next to her.)
SOLDIER: Death breaks us all, my child. It scours these hills as if a shadow in the darkness. But heed my words. We shall not let his sacrifice go unaccounted for. I see a new dawn where this virus is cast off from our streets. This civilisation will rise again.
JESS: What know you of hope? You speak of this land as if there's something worth living for. You know not of the pain I've suffered. Where were you when the invasion crumbled the citadels or when proud Izon was slain by the dark Lords. Your words carry nothing but deceit.
SOLDIER: There is always hope, my child. A hope that dwells in the lands and seas that spread across this mighty nation. Take it, young warrior, and enflame their hearts once more.
(At his words, Jess rises to her feet and faces him.)
SOLDIER: Seize it and your legacy will last for eternity!
(Jess turns to look at the oncoming tanks and infantrymen before turning back to the soldier)

JESS (she whispers quietly): For Will.

(The tanks and infantrymen approach her destroying all in their way. Airplanes fly ahead launching missiles into the crumbling buildings either side of her. She raises her hand slowly and silently up into the air. Bright white light flows out of hand engulfing everything in front of her. The tanks and infantry are crumbled into a dust and rays light flow from her hand up into the sky decimating all in her way. After several seconds, she relaxes and falls to the ground.
SOLDIER AS THE VOICEOVER (another soldier standing in the line is revealed as the voiceover): On that day, a new hope was born. From the dark caves of oppression, the forces of the resistance united and cast off the virus from their streets. Children, women and men could once again roam the streets in freedom; they could once again call it their home.
